KPMG’s search for the 2019 Best British Tech Startup continues. Join us at the Oxford heat on 30 January where semi-finalists compete for their spot in the finals.

The pace and scale of innovation and ingenuity we continue to see is remarkable. And it's not just us, a reported total of £1.4 billion was invested by VCs into UK startups between July and September 2018 which is up on the £1.31 billion raised in the same quarter in 2017.

Our Best British Tech Startup competition champions startups that have innovative, proven technologies, robust business models, the ability to demonstrate traction in their activities, and the potential to scale.

Oxford semi-finalists will compete at our pitching event in front of our judging panel, VC’s, corporates and tech industry influencers. One winner will be selected from this heat and flown to Barcelona in February 2019 to compete at the finals at Mobile World Congress – the industry’s largest mobile gathering.

Join us to hear directly from emerging startups and on all that is new and trending in innovation and technology.

Out of the ordinary. Out in front.

Since the competition launched in 2013, we’ve had more than 1,000 applications. Here’s what some of our previous participants have to say about it.

““Winning KPMG’s BBMS award literally changed the face of SafeToNet over night. The award gave SafeToNet international credibility and recognition not least because of the brand association with KPMG but also because the final was held at the Mobile World Congress and in front of some of the biggest and most influential companies in the world.””

Richard Pursey, CEO of SafeToNet (2017 winner)

“"Winning KPMG’s Best British Mobile Startup competition was a huge boost to our team, who are working hard to simplify pharmacy across the NHS. From the regional heats to the final in Barcelona, the quality of the other startups involved was humbling. Winning has significantly raised our profile not just across government and the NHS, but more also with patients and GPs across the country.””

Stephen Bourke, Co-founder of Echo (2018 winner)

““BBMS 2018 was a great opportunity to showcase The Link App's innovation on a national and global stage. I would highly recommend taking part for startups looking to increase brand exposure and recognition.””

Lauren Riley, Founder & CEO of The Link App (2018 finalist)

““BBMS was a great program to be part of. It gave us a huge platform to reach potential customers, decision makers and influencers. The process forced us to be incredibly focussed and clear on our proposition and our story and we met some great like minded startups.””

Giles Rhys Jones, CMO at What3Words (2016 winner)

““The multi round UK format attracted a lot of talented SME’s. Raised their profile and gave them good KPMG and wider support. Reaching MWC 2018 was icing on the cake for those that took the chance to meet wider partners, investors and international buyers.””

Dr Mike Short, Former VP Telefonica Europe and since 2018 Chief Scientific Adviser, Department of International Trade
